[21] 짧은 글쓰기 - how to study English

졸려서 생각없이 막 썼더니 빨간색 투성이다.

 

 

I have to study English hard because of two important reasons. First, I am living in America. Second, I don’t want to be quiet while living anywhere in Los Angeles. I think that the ability of expressing is extremely important in living. If I do not speak English well, the next five years while I live here will be a useless experience.

 

I think I will focus my study of English in three different parts. The first part is ‘words’. I think I already know many words, but I am not accustomed to using them correctly. It is important to memorize new words, but it is also important to use them when they are needed. So I will first concentrate in using words which I already know, making examples to use them. I will also study a book called ‘Word Smart’. Not only does it have many GRE words, but it also has many examples with the words. In addition to this, I will memorize the English meanings of vocabularies, not direct translations of Korean.

 

Second part is speaking. This part has a similar concept to the ‘words part’ above. I can read and write speaking dialogs, but I cannot create sentences through my own words. I think the only way to overcome this situation is to speak English everyday. I haven’t found any speaking book yet, but I will speak English everyday for about fifteen minutes. My lovely husband will help me of course.

 

The third part is reading and writing. I already write about 2~3 essays every week. Although this amount is not enough to prepare for the GRE or TOEFL exam, if I will write English essays according to this pace for about 3~4 months, it will be enough to get a good score. I hope I will become a good writer. Meanwhile, it is also important to read English books. I know I can read TOEFL or TOEIC passages well, but real English reading material is very different to those kinds of reading things. So I will read real articles or novels which are made for Americans.

 

Don't forget that my goal is not just to pass the exam, but to become really good at  Englsh.
